If you’ve driven along Route 34 (Ogden Avenue) in Naperville, or been near the intersection of Routes 59 and 34, you’ve seen a large sign that our Naperville property has been sold.
We’re not closed—we’ve moved! Our Design Center is open for business at our new location: 1701 Quincy Ave, #25 in Naperville.
Back in 1967, nearly 50 years ago, our father, Raymond O’Donovan, purchased the Route 34 property. His decision to move his family and launch his business here, proved very shrewd. Timing’s everything, and Naperville was fertile ground for a landscape operation. Naperville exploded from a 1970 population of 22,000, to its current projected estimate of 147,000. In 2006, Naperville was voted the second-best place to live in the entire U.S. by Money magazine.
We grew up in Naperville and attended school here. As children, we O’Donovan siblings were raised in that humble gray 1960’s ranch-style house on Route 34. We rode our bikes on the eight or so acres, played tag on the grass, ate strawberries from the garden, and helped our dad plant saplings. We learned our trade from our father and obtained horticulture degrees. We learned how to install elaborate brick patios, and which plants and trees thrive best in rich Illinois soil.
So you might say that our roots run deep here – pun intended.
When Dad died in May 1998, we continued operating as he would’ve wished. Our father’s legacy can be found in the Naperville Riverwalk, school properties, company acreage and residential homes.
We helped him build the landscape business to what it is today. We offer 40+ years of experience that few landscape operations can.
Despite the fact that Illinois overall is shrinking in population, Naperville continues to attract new residents – and we plan on being here to serve their landscape design needs.
Along with Naperville’s incredible growth, we’ve also expanded, building our business past Naperville to include a 40-acre Plainfield location on Route 126. That’s where our nursery and equipment are located. The nursery, by the way, is open to the public. So stop by any time.
As of Thursday, October 6, 2016, the new owners will assume responsibility for the Route 34 land. The gray house will disappear, along with the garage, remnants of the garden center, and the rest of the structures, and be a memory that lingers in our hearts.
We’re sad to see it go, the nearly nine acres that we’ve operated from, and called our home. But change is inevitable, and we’re adaptable.
Again, our new address in Naperville is 1701 Quincy Ave, #25, which is only a stone’s throw from our former Route 34 location!
Please join us. Stop by and say hello. Our welcome mat is out and we offer you decades of landscape expertise, knowledge that will help you beautify your home as well as increase its value.

Sincerely,
Lisa and Susan O’Donovan
